Anambra State Government in a bid to protect the girl child from Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection will this year, implement campaign against the disease in all local government areas (LGAs).
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, Sir Paul Nwosu, through a release stated that the campaign is being organized by Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), in collaboration with National Primary Healthcare Development Agency and partners (UNICEF, WHO, GAVI, CHAI, etc).
According to the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, ASPHCDA, Pharm. Mrs Chisom F. Uchem, eligible target groups for the vaccination are girl children between 9 years and 14 years.
Major stakeholders in the state are presently being briefed of the exercise, which will take place at fixed posts like health facilities and temporary posts, such as schools, churches, markets, town halls, motor parks and all places where eligible target groups will be found.
Girls within the age bracket are advised to make themselves available when the vaccination starts on a date to be announced.
