Captain Ndidi Vows to Cover Players’ Unpaid Allowances if NFF Fail to Act

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has stepped forward with a personal pledge to cover any outstanding player bonuses if the national federation falls short, a move aimed at quelling tensions over delayed payments during the team’s Africa Cup of Nations run, according to a BBC journalist’s report.

The Leicester City midfielder’s assurance surfaced amid whispers of financial discord in the Super Eagles’ camp, as Nigeria eyes a semi-final spot in the 2025 tournament hosted by Morocco.

BBC reporter Oluwashina Okeleji relayed the commitment via social media, stating: “Wilfred Ndidi has promised to pay all unpaid allowances of the players if the authorities fail to pay.”

Such disputes have long shadowed Nigerian squads at major events, often leading to boycotts or distractions, though officials from the Nigeria Football Federation have remained silent on the latest claims.

The unbeaten Super Eagles, seeking their fourth AFCON crown, face Algeria in Saturday’s quarter-final, with team morale under the spotlight amid these off-field issues.
