CHAPOL Confer ‘Pillar Of Moral Education Award’ To Catholic Bishop Of Awka ‘Ezeokafor

The Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor has been conferred the “Pillar of Moral Education Award” by the Chaplain Corps Policing Explorers (CHAPOL), Anambra State Command.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the event which was held at the Bishop’s Conference Hall in the Diocesan Catholic Secretariat, Awka, was also an opportunity for CHAPOL to interact with the Bishop and to seek further support from the government and other well-spirited individuals.

While interacting with the Bishop, the Anambra State Commandant of CHAPOL, Mr. Joseph Ekwunife, who led the group, said that CHAPOL had always relied on the support of their Patrons, Fellows and Partners, to do her work of eradicating moral decadence and other social vices among the students of government secondary schools in Anambra State.

Mr. Ekwunife further explained that since 2017, when the organization first met with the Bishop, the Prelate, true to his vision and mission of encouraging the development of young people, had remained unwavering in his support to the Command.

Noting that the assistance of government and other well-spirited individuals would go a long way in assisting the organization, he disclosed that the Anambra State Command of CHAPOL had benefitted greatly from the Bishop’s wise counsel, encouragement, support, representative presence in their annual CHAPOL/PPSSC conference on moral values for students, and prayers.

Sequel to this, and to mark her 10 years anniversary, the Command presented to the Bishop, an award of ‘Pillar Of Moral Education’ which, it said, was in recognition of the Bishop’s unwavering commitment, contributions and support to the sustainability of CHAPOL operations to eradicate moral decadence and other social vices among students of government secondary schools in Anambra State.

The award was presented in the presence of some priests, among whom were the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Fr. Charles Nbubisi; Secretary to the Bishop, Fr. Evaristus Ifeanacho and the Cathedral Administrator, Fr. Anthony Nwafor.

In his response, the Bishop thanked CHAPOL Anambra State Command, for the award presented to him and for the work they were doing, even with the little resources available. He reassured them of his willingness to still assist them, as, according to the visibly happy Prelate, the training of children ought to pay attention to religion, culture, family and society of the child.

‘All of this,” the Bishop said, ‘must be part of the formation of the child because every human being is a composite of body and soul.’

On another note, the Bishop emphasized that since CHAPOL had a good vision for the growth and development of the younger generation, he would spare no opportunity in bringing their mission to those concerned, especially the government.

CHAPOL Anambra State Command, which came into existence on 1st July 2013, is a Paramilitary Non-Governmental Organization, working in partnership with the Anambra State Government through the State Ministry of Education and Post-Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), to eradicate moral decadence and other social vices among students of the about 268 government secondary schools in Anambra State.

The Command covered the six education zones, namely; Awka, Nnewi, Onitsha, Aguata, Ogidi and Otuocha at once, but because of logistics challenges, the Command could only cover two zones at once but has been selflessly committed to her mission statement which is to raise future generations of Ndi Anambra imbued with decent education and sound mind and body.
