Chelsea: Aubameyang left out from The Blue’s UCL squad

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, a striker for Chelsea, was left out of the competition’s knockout rounds and won’t participate in the team’s run in the 2022–2023 UEFA Champions League.

The former Arsenal and FC Barcelona striker, who joined Stamford Bridge last summer, hasn’t played a game for the West London club since November and has been fired by Blues manager Graham Potter as a result of an unimpressive campaign thus far.

Instead, new buy and record-breaking signing Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix have been included. Also, winter acquisition Benoit Badiashile is not listed on Chelsea’s UEFA squad page after joining in a £35m deal last month.

Chelsea were only allowed to register a maximum of three new players for the knockout stages of the Champions League, before taking on Borussia Dortmund in the Round-Of-16 on February 15th.

All clubs are limited to a 25-man squad and Chelsea used 24 players in the group stage, with only one of them – Jorginho – leaving the club in the January transfer window. Clubs had to inform UEFA of their desired squad changes by 11pm on Thursday, February 2.
