Chelsea Pull the Plug on Maresca After Turbulent Spell at Stamford Bridge

English Premier League side Chelsea dismissed manager Enzo Maresca on Wednesday in a mutual agreement, citing the need to revitalize their campaign across multiple fronts after a tenure that included triumphs in European and global club competitions.

The Italian coach, appointed in mid-2024 following his promotion success with Leicester City, departed after guiding the Blues to victories in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup, milestones the club acknowledged as enduring highlights.

In an official release, Chelsea explained: “Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company. During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.”

It added: “Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club. With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.”

The statement extended well-wishes to Maresca for his next steps, without elaborating on immediate replacements or interim leadership amid the ongoing season.

Maresca’s exit caps a period of under two years at Stamford Bridge, where the team faced pressures to secure top-tier European spots despite the silverware secured under his watch.
