Media figure Chude Jideonwo has claimed that Lagos is “full of married gay people,” linking the assertion to online speculation about his own sexuality following a recent television appearance.
Jideonwo made the remark during an appearance on the Clarity Zone Podcast while addressing rumours sparked by his interview on Television Continental (TVC).
“People were saying maybe I’m gay after the TVC interview came out,” he said. “I’m like, Lagos is full of married gay people.”
He suggested that public accusations of homosexuality often reflect societal hypocrisy, with many who condemn it allegedly living double lives.
The comments, shared in a podcast snippet, triggered mixed reactions online, fuelling debates about privacy, sexuality and public perception in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
In the same discussion, Jideonwo also highlighted the proliferation of ritual and native-medicine advertisements on TikTok, noting that he had observed three such live broadcasts where viewers actively sought contact details.
