Anambra State House of Assembly urges Governor Chukwuma Soludo to as a matter of urgency direct the commissioner for health and
commissioner for works to as a matter of urgency commence immediate intervention in the state owned collage of Nursing and midwifery, Nkpor, to forestal further degradation and environmental threat to the institution.

The member representing Idemili North constituency Hon. Azubuike Kingsley Udemezue who moved the motion at plenary lamented over the condition of the institution.
According to Hon. Udemezue ” Collage Of Nursing And Midwifery, Nkpor is owned by Anambra state and is currently faced with a lot of environmental threats duo to erosion menance and dilapidated nature of the road leading to the collage.
“The structural and environmental harzards in this school can affect learning, delay subsequent accreditation of the collage, security threat and lost of revenue for the college.
” If urgent intervention is effected, it will salvage the collage, reduce the suffering of the community, enhance the economy of the state and restore confidence on governance.
” The day i visited the school, i wept. There was dump of refuse. Some section of the school is about to collapse and no enough structures for their studies” The Idemili North representative revealed.
Contributing to the motion, Hon. Ebuka Igwe, Hon. Nobel Igwe, Hon. Tony Muobike, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and Hon. Chidi Ibemeka in their separate submission called for an urgent intervention.
According to the lawmakers, “That institution does not deserve to be called Collage Of Nursing And Midwifery because it has alot of dilapidated structures, erosion manace threathing some parts of the school, some fence have collapsed and access road to the school is in total bad shape and condition.
” If we actually want to make that institution conducive for learning, the government needs to fix the structures available and intervane by checking erosion manace within the school premises.
” The environment needs to be fix so that it will be suitable for learning. This is a very pathetic situation and the students are exposed to unfortunate circumstances.
” Being a state owned institution, government needs to do more because effective teaching involves what is been thought, who is doing the teaching and where the teaching is being done and if any of this is found wanting, it will affect the products of that institution.
” This is an environment where we are producing our Nurses and if we want to change the quality of the nurses we produce, we will have to first of all change the environment where the learn.
“Government generate revenue in this institution and they also have hospital where they take care of patients.
“Environment can influence someome in one way or the other, negatively or positively and this students after graduating are those that will take
care of us when the need arise’ The legislators submitted.
Anambra Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze appealed to the chairman house committee on health Hon. Tony Muobike and the chairman house committee on education Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke to visit tje Collage Of Nursing And Midwifery, Nkpor and report back to the house.
