I wish to extend my profound congratulations to the esteemed winners of the recently concluded Internal Governing Council election at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. These distinguished individuals have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, integrity, and a commitment to the development of our institution. It is with great pride that I commend their election into the 10th Governing Council of this prestigious university.
The elected members, Prof. Pius V. C. Okoye (Senate Rep), Rev’d. Fr. Prof. Ikenga Oraegbunam (Senate Rep), Prof. Tracie Utoh-Ezeajugh (Senate Rep), Prof. Igwebike Onyiorah (Senate Rep), Dr. Engr. Paul Okoli (Congregation Rep for Teaching), Engr. Samuel Onwuemene (Congregation Rep for Non-teaching), and Hon. Ndubuisi Nwobu (Convocation Rep), have all earned their positions through hard work, commitment, and the trust of their peers. Their collective expertise and wealth of experience will no doubt provide the strategic direction necessary to further elevate the standard of academic excellence, transparency, and development within the University.
As they embark on this new journey, I trust that they will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to uphold the mission and vision of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, while ensuring that the interests of the university community are safeguarded. Their election reflects the confidence the University community has placed in their capabilities, and I have no doubt they will exceed expectations in delivering transformative leadership.
I also want to extend my sincere commendation to all those who vied for one position or the other but did not win. You have demonstrated true sportsmanship, courage, and a commitment to service. Your participation in this democratic process is invaluable, and I believe that the University will continue to benefit from your talents and dedication in many other capacities.
I urge all members of the University – students, faculty, and staff alike – to offer their full support to these newly elected council members, as we work together to achieve greater heights for our beloved institution.
