Anambra State Coordinator, Civil Society on Migration and Development, Eucharia Onyemaobi has called on residents to shun irregular migration.

Onyemaobi made the call in Awka during a one day public sensitisation programme on irregular migration in the society organised in collaboration with Anambra Broadcasting Service, Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, and three others themed “Honouring The Contributions Of Migrants And Respecting Their Rights”.
The Coordinator outlined the dangers inherent in irregular migration and urged the practitioners to retrace their steps and acquire skills that will qualify them to travel safely to any part of the world.
Anambra Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji while speaking regretted that many irregular migrants lose their lives in the process of traveling overseas through illegal means,
Onyenji called on practitioners to devote more of their time to learning skills that will enable them to achieve their dreams in the country rather than engage in irregular migration.
The Deputy Superintendent, Migration, Anambra State Chapter, Mr Chukwuma Muozoba identified economic hardship in Nigeria as the major cause of irregular migration.
Muozoba urged governments to provide more jobs for the youths and ease of doing business in the country to address the ugly trend.
