Businessman and social media personality Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, announced Wednesday his plan to campaign against former presidential candidate Peter Obi in upcoming 2027 elections, reversing his staunch backing from the 2023 race.
The declaration surfaced during an online exchange on Instagram, where Okechukwu fielded queries from followers about his recent affiliation with the pro-Tinubu “City Boy Movement.”
Responding to a direct question on opposing Obi, he affirmed: “Yes oh hope say no be crime cuz I worked for obi last election even as special adviser to an APC Governor.”
Okechukwu’s pivot follows his appointment as the movement’s South-East director by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, fueling speculation on shifting loyalties among influential figures from the region.
When challenged over his past detentions by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission under the current administration, Okechukwu brushed it off as a rite of passage for the affluent: “if you never go Efcc for naija you never make am.”
The conversation escalated into regional politics, with Okechukwu rebuking a critic who lamented a lack of unity in the South-East during Obi’s 2023 bid.
“Shut up your mouth and go and support who you want to support as you like Biafra reach how many developments you don do for south East,” he retorted.
