- Alleged revenge mission
A section of Eke Awgbu market including a motor bike has been burnt to ashes by suspected cultists. ANN investigation revealed that this incident occured at the wee hours of eke day. Saturday May 20 2023.
According to an eye witness, (Name withheld) the arson was carried out in revenge of the killing and burning of a suspected armed robber by some individuals in Awgbu a few days ago.
He said: “Some armed robbers were pursued from around Oko/Amaokpala and were caught at Awgbu where they were beaten to death and set ablaze.
Some arms were found on them. It was later discovered that they were cultists. When some individuals suspected to be their members came back and tourched a section of Eke Awgbu.
As at the time of filing this report, the Nigeria police PRO was incommunicado to get his own side of the story.
