Ex-signee of Jude Okoye, Cynthia Morgan has expressed solidarity with Peter Okoye of P-Square, saying artists can endure immense emotional pressure while maintaining public images.
Morgan shared her thoughts in an Instagram post while responding to Peter’s recent emotional struggles, urging him to find peace and describing the pressures that come with a career in the entertainment industry.
“As an artiste, most of us are conditioned to always put our craft over anything. Love, grief, abuse, pressure etc.,” Morgan wrote.
She argued that artists can reach a point where they are unable to continue concealing their emotions, saying some may need to seek help before they can return to their normal selves.
“When you see an artiste that you think has become destructive just know they’ve maxed out and can no longer pretend,” she said, adding that they may need to “vent or go to therapy.”
Morgan also reflected on how the entertainment industry has changed, contrasting today’s artists with established acts whose public identities were often built around mystery.
She specifically referenced the P-Square era, saying some of the group’s appeal was rooted in keeping aspects of their private lives away from the public.
“Especially if you come from the P-Square circle, some of our brands were built on mystery. You think you know us but you don’t,” Morgan wrote.
The singer suggested that newer artists may face less public judgement because of the changing media landscape, but maintained that established entertainers often carried significant pressure to preserve their carefully crafted public images.
In a separate message directed at Peter Okoye, Morgan offered a prayerful message of support.
“The Lord is close to the broken hearted @peterpsquare. I wish you peace and salvation,” she wrote.
Peter and his twin brother Paul, who performed together as P-Square, have experienced a highly publicised and sometimes turbulent relationship over the years, with their professional and personal disputes attracting widespread attention in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
