Dangote Group Denies Ownership of Truck in Enugu Crash, Flags Brand Misuse

Dangote Industries Limited has publicly denied ownership of the cement-laden truck involved in a fatal Enugu accident, confirming the vehicle was operated by third-party company Visco Investment Global Limited.

The tragedy, which occurred along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, claimed multiple lives when the branded truck collided with a Toyota Corolla, a bus, and other vehicles. Widespread imagery of the truck emblazoned with Dangote’s logo quickly raised social media claims that it was part of the conglomerate’s fleet.

In a statement, Dangote Group dismissed the allegations as misinformation. The company said it was collaborating with relevant authorities to ascertain why its logo appeared on a vehicle outside its fleet, and pledged stricter scrutiny going forward over unauthorized use of its brand identity.

The incident follows previous backlash: just last month, a Dangote-branded truck struck and seriously injured Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of reality TV star Phyna, who later died from the injuries. That incident further fueled public demands for corporate accountability over road safety.
