Representatives of the Dangote Group on Sunday collected the body of Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna, from the hospital where she passed away, according to family sources.
Ruth had sustained life-threatening injuries in a road accident involving a Dangote Group truck on August 13 near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. The accident led to the amputation of her leg. Despite medical interventions, she died around 6:30 a.m. on August 31, as confirmed in a statement by her family.
A family source told PUNCH Metro that the Dangote Group was immediately notified following her death and subsequently retrieved her remains. “We are expecting that they take over the expenses of her burial, since they had stepped in to take over her medical expenses,” the source said.
The family described Ruth as “a cheerful and affectionate person,” fondly known by the nickname Bobo. They revealed she had recently graduated from Auchi Polytechnic six days prior to the tragic incident.
