Davido Updates Curious Nigerians On The #250 Million He Donated To Orphanages

Davido is trending on social media for the right and wrong reasons.

Recall yesterday the Fem singer set tongues wagging with the Lamborghini Aventador he spent a whopping #250 million on. As expected his acquisition didn’t sit well with some of his fans, as well as anti-fans who felt Davido should have invested the money or used it to better the lives of the people in the society.

The bold ones had the audacity to ask him if he used the money he promised orphanages to buy the car.

Reacting to the bants and rants, Davido took to his Ig story to give a breakdown of how the #25O million will be disbursed among the orphanages.

According to him, the verification is ongoing and the official report will be out by the 15th of Dec. There will also be a press release by the 20th of Dec on the selection and disbursement.

OBO also revealed that the National Association of Orphanages is helping with the verification process to prevent cases of fraud.

Davido has revealed that 1,234 applications has so far been received for his N250 million cash donation which is to be given to orphanages in Nigeria

The “Jowo” crooner took to his Instagram story to give “transparent updates” regarding the disbursement of the donation as he had initially promised.

“1234 responded,” he said, noting, however, that about 852 are without orphanage names, leaving just 382 listed orphanages with names.

The named applicants are currently being verified by a list submitted by The National Association of Orphanage Home, Davido disclosed.

“The National Association of Orphanage Homes in Nigeria sent the list of orphanages within their coverage, which to some extent is helping us in the verification process,” he said.

On November 17, Davido generated over N200 million from fans and friends after “jokingly” posting his bank details online and requesting funds towards his birthday.

The artist generously added N50 million to the massive cash gift and donated a total sum of N250 million to orphanage homes in Nigeria.

On November 20, Davido set up a committee to oversee the disbursement of the funds and promised the public “transparency” throughout the entire process.

He further informed the public saying “Verification is ongoing, and report will be out by 15th Dec. Selection and disbursement 18th/19th and press release should be Dec 20th”.
