Singer Davido has called on US President Donald Trump to pay attention to the upcoming governorship election in Osun State amid rising concerns over possible violence and intimidation.
In a post on X on Tuesday, the artist, whose full name is David Adeleke, appealed for international scrutiny to protect voters and ensure a peaceful democratic process.
“There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear,” he wrote.
Davido urged the United States and the wider international community to encourage Nigerian authorities to safeguard every voter and respect every ballot.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he added, tagging Trump’s official account.
The appeal comes as political tensions have heightened in the southwestern state ahead of the poll.
