French forward Ousmane Dembélé capped a stellar season by clinching the Men’s Player of the Year at the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards on Saturday, as Spanish giants Barcelona dominated LaLiga-specific honors during the glitzy ceremony in Dubai.
The 16th edition of the event, organized by the Dubai Sports Council, celebrated achievements across global football, with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) emerging as Men’s Club of the Year and Barcelona taking the Women’s Club accolade.
Dembélé outshone nominees including Kylian Mbappé, Raphinha, Vitinha, and Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal to secure the top individual prize, following his key contributions to PSG’s campaigns.
Barcelona’s haul included Best LaLiga Club, Best Coach for Hansi Flick, Best LaLiga Player for Raphinha, Best U-23 Player and Best Forward for Yamal, underscoring the club’s resurgence under new management.
PSG’s Luis Enrique was named overall Coach of the Year, while the club’s Vitinha earned Best Midfielder, Désiré Doué took Emerging Player, Luis Campos was honored as Best Sporting Director, and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi as Best Club President.
In the women’s category, Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmatí triumphed as Player of the Year over rivals like Mariona Caldentey, Melchie Dumornay, Alexia Putellas, and Alessia Russo.
Other notable winners included Atlético Madrid’s Jan Oblak as Best Goalkeeper, Cristiano Ronaldo as Middle East Player of the Year, Jorge Mendes as Best Agent, and Portugal as Best National Team.
The awards were founded by famed football agent Jorge Mendes along with Italian businessmen Riccardo Silva and Tommaso Bendoni. Mendes has won the Best Agent category almost every year. “At the heart of Globe Soccer’s mission is a commitment to honoring all facets of the beautiful game,” reads the official website
Career Achievement Awards went to Japan’s Hidetoshi Nakata and Spain’s Andrés Iniesta, while Paul Pogba received Best Comeback and Yamal also claimed the Maradona Award.
The ceremony featured an emotional tribute to Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, with his parents accepting the recognition on his behalf.
Additional honors recognized Bilal Halal as Best Content Creator, Right to Dream as Best Academy, Los Angeles Football Club for Best Branding, and Nicoletta Romanazzi as Best Mental Coach.
The awards highlighted a blend of established stars and rising talents, reflecting football’s dynamic evolution on the international stage.
