The Walt Disney Company and TikTok have agreed a first-of-its-kind global partnership allowing creators to use characters and scenes from Disney films and shows in short-form videos.
The vertical clips will appear both on TikTok and in the Verts tab on Disney+, aiming to attract younger viewers. A pilot will launch in the United States in the coming months before expanding elsewhere.
“The best storytellers are fans first,” said Asad Ayaz, Disney’s chief marketing and brand officer. “This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day.”
TikTok’s head of entertainment, Dawn Young, said creators help prolong the life of films and series. “Their creativity extends the life of films and shows into conversations that fans discover and share,” Young said. “Together with Disney, we’re bringing the authentic creator expression of the TikTok community to Disney+.”
Participating creators who opt in will gain access to assets from hundreds of titles across Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, FX and other Disney brands. Selected videos will be refreshed regularly.
The companies will also run a joint Disney Creator Ambassador Program offering top participants greater visibility, exclusive events and career pathways. Financial terms were not disclosed.
