Don’t Push NLC To Another Indefinite Strike : Anambra NULGE President Tells FG

The President, National Association of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Anambra State Chapter, Comrade Chikwelu Adigwe has called on the federal government not to allow the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to embark on another indefinite strike for the good of the nation.

Comrade Adigwe who gave this advice while speaking in Awka, wondered why the federal government treats workers welfare with kid gloves at all times.

The NULGE President described Nigerian workers as very productive, enterprising, productive and intelligent who always give their best in whatever they do, a reason he said deserves to be appreciated by government at all levels.

Comrade Adigwe made it clear that it is an insult to the sensibilities of the millions of the Nigerian workers that government is proposing a N60, 000 minimum wage for the workers at the level of hyperinflation and harsh economic condition in the country.

According to the Labour leader, workers in the country are dying in droves daily because of hardship, preventable sicknesses, bad roads, insecurity among others and made it clear that the proposal cannot even fill the tanks of most politicians’ one SUV.

He, therefore, urged the President Bola Tinubu led administration to restrategize and give the Nigerian workers a living wage that is commensurate with other big oil producing countries around the world, warning that if they fail to act within the grace period given by the organised labour, that another indefinite strike in Nigeria may shutdown the entire nation as never before.
