Dwayne Johnson Returns To ‘Fast & Furious’

Dwayne Johnson has made it official that he is returning to the “Fast & Furious” franchise. He shared the news on his social media, expressing his full confirmation that his character Luke Hobbs will be back in action.

Johnson expressed gratitude to the audience for their support and excitement surrounding his surprise cameo in “Fast X,” which was released in theatres in May.

The actor, also known as The Rock, teased that there is more to come between Hobbs and Jason Momoa’s character Dante.

He drew a comparison to his days as a professional wrestler, mentioning the epic clashes between “The Rock” and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at WrestleMania. According to Johnson, the collision between Dante and Hobbs will be even more sensational.

While Johnson didn’t provide explicit details about the next “Fast” installment, The Wrap reported that an untitled Hobbs movie is in development at Universal Pictures.

This film will serve as a bridge between “Fast X” and “Fast X: Part II,” rather than a sequel to “Hobbs & Shaw,” the 2019 spinoff starring Johnson and Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw.

Dwayne Johnson first appeared as Hobbs in 2011’s “Fast Five” and continued to feature in five subsequent films in the franchise.

In 2021, he stated in an interview with CNN that he would not be returning to the franchise after his appearance in “Hobbs & Shaw.” However, despite the public plea from Vin Diesel, a mainstay star of the “Fast & Furious” series, Johnson has now decided to come back.

Regarding his relationship with Diesel, Johnson addressed their past differences and emphasized that they have been like brothers for years.

He mentioned that they are focused on resolving their issues and looking ahead to bigger plans and build-outs in the future. Considering all these factors, Johnson stated that saying “yes” to returning was not a difficult decision for him.
