EFCC Declares Ex-Kogi Gov, Yahaya Bello Wanted For Alleged N80billion Financial Crime

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially declared former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, wanted in connection with economic and financial crimes amounting to N80.2 billion.

According to an EFCC bulletin issued on Thursday, anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to report to the Commission or the nearest police station.

The case against Bello was adjourned to April 23 by the Federal High Court in Abuja, after his absence in court stalled the planned arraignment. Reports suggest that Bello’s absence was facilitated by someone with immunity who prevented his arrest by whisking him away in an official vehicle.

The EFCC may seek military assistance to apprehend him for arraignment. Despite claims of immunity and legal maneuvers, the court granted the EFCC permission to arrest Bello.

The EFCC stated its intention to arraign Bello alongside three other suspects before Justice Emeka Nwite on 19-count charges of money laundering totaling N80,246,470,088.88.

Despite resistance encountered in executing the arrest warrant, the EFCC remains determined to bring Bello to justice, emphasizing that no one is above the law.
