Eid-el Kabir: Anambra FRSC to engage NBA, Judiciary to prosecute road traffic violators

Ahead of the Eid-el Kabir celebration this week, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it will engage the services of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and Anambra State Judiciary to prosecute drivers and vehicle owners caught contravening established traffic regulations.

Such violations are overloading, dangerous driving, use of phone while driving, over speeding, overtaking, lane indiscipline, route violation, road obstruction, Passenger’s Manifest violation, loading of trailers with people, among others.

Briefing newsmen in Awka ahead the Monday and Tuesday Eid-el Kabir celebration, the Sector Commander FRSC Anambra Sector Command, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi said these violations will be tamed through the instrumentality of mobile Court operations.

He noted that the Command has put measures on ground at motor parks and highways to check and stop drivers who control the wheels under the influence of alcohol and other substances to minimize tendencies of fratalities on the road.

Corps Commander Irelewuyi announced that the command is also battling with trailer drivers conveying humans, goods and animals at the same time resulting to unprecedented crashed and fatalities on the highways.

“To this end, the command has commenced Eid-el Kabir Special Patrol to achieve reduction in road traffic crashes, road traffic fatalities and road traffic injuries in Anambra state

“FRSC is carrying out aggressive enforcement including conducting many Mobile Courts operations with the aim of tackling the above road traffic violations.”

The FRSC boss hoped that with massive deployment of 1,020 personnel and logistics and envisaged public support, the command is confident that the Eid-el Kabir celebration would be a huge success and reassured the motoring public’s of FRSC’s renewed vigour towards entrenching sanity on Anambra roads.###
