Elon Musk Reveals Tesla is Working to Roll Out 1st Major Cybertruck Hardware Upgrade

Elon Musk says Tesla has “further Cybertruck improvements in the works to tighten the turning circle significantly.” This will be the Cybertruck’s first major hardware upgrade since the truck launched back in November.

The most striking Cybertruck feature is the truck’s design. Unlike any modern vehicle, the Cybertruck’s body panels are all made of straight edges.

Similarly, unlike any other production vehicle, the Cybertruck is made out of a 30X cold-rolled stainless steel exoskeleton. This makes the Cybertruck the first bullet-proof vehicle from the factory.

Given its shiny hard edged exterior and ultra-durable properties, the focus when it comes to the Cybertruck has been concentrated on the truck’s exterior.

However, when Tesla finally started delivering the Cybertruck, what we learned is that the vehicle is as revolutionary in its internal components as it looks on the outside.

The Cybertruck is the first vehicle to feature a 48-volt low-voltage architecture, a steer-by-wire variable gain steering system, and a high bandwidth ethernet loop that connects every vehicle component into a single loop.

The Cybertruck is also the first Tesla to feature an 800-volt high-voltage system, the first Tesla to feature rear-wheel steering and an industry-leading air suspension with 17.4 inches of ground clearance and 12 inches of suspension travel.

Yet, Elon made another revelation too about Cybertruck’s plans for China.

Add to this the fact that the Cybertruck is the first vehicle to be designed from the ground up with Tesla’s next-generation 4680 cells and structural pack in mind, then the vehicle looks revolutionary from every aspect.

Given all the technological improvements that have debuted with the Cybertruck, most companies would be happy to take a breather and rest on their laurels.

However, in true Tesla and Elon Musk fashion, the serial entrepreneur has just announced that Tesla is already working on a major improvement to the Cybertruck.

Thanks to its 4-wheel steering and steer-by-wire variable gain steering system, the Cybertruck is already the easiest truck to maneuver.

Not only that, thanks to its rear-wheel steering, the Cybertruck already features a turning radius smaller than that of the Tesla Model S, which is a significantly smaller vehicle.

Online Tesla personality Sawyer Merritt highlighted this fact writing on X “Cybertruck has a 9% better turning radius than an F-150.”

Seeing Sawyer’s post, Elon Musk responded by saying, “We have further improvements in the works to tighten the turning circle significantly.”

As I have mentioned above, the Cybertruck is already the easiest full-sized truck to maneuver with a turning radius smaller than a Model S, however, Musk seems determined to grow the Cybertruck’s lead even further.

Although exciting, Elon Musk did not elaborate on the exact change that Tesla plans to make to the Cybertruck that will “significantly tighten the turning radius.”

Is this a software update that will unlock capability that’s already present on the Cybertruck? Is this a hardware change that will come on newer models? When should we expect this upgrade to take place?

Currently, we don’t have answers to these questions, however, we’ll be sure to keep you posted when we learn more about Tesla’s plans. Until then, make sure to visit our site torquenews.com/Tesla regularly for the latest updates.

So what do you think? Happy to see Tesla is already working on a major Cybertruck upgrade? What are other changes you would like to see on the truck? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
