The Secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG), Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, has emphasised the importance of empowering women through knowledge, leadership opportunities and active participation in decision-making, noting that such support is essential for strengthening institutions, shaping public policy and driving lasting societal development.
Nnake stated this at HER Converge 2026, organised by the FutureHer Policy and Development Institute in Asaba, Delta State, under the theme, “Women. Power. Policy & Possibilities.”
The convergence brought together distinguished women and professionals from government, business, law, education, entrepreneurship and other sectors to discuss women’s leadership, influence in policymaking and the possibilities that emerge when women are empowered to contribute meaningfully to society.
Speaking at the event, Nnake shared insights from her leadership journey, reflecting on her emergence as the first female Secretary to the State Government of Anambra State and the youngest SSG in Nigeria.
She highlighted the experiences, diligence, lessons and determination that had shaped her career, emphasising that occupying a position of responsibility requires preparation, courage, competence and an unwavering commitment to service.
The SSG expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to participate in a platform that enabled women to exchange experiences, inspire one another and explore greater possibilities in leadership and public service.
She also acknowledged the convener, Udoka Anita Ikebuwa, and other participants whose contributions enriched the discussions and strengthened the objectives of the gathering.
Nnake stressed that women’s responsibility extends beyond breaking barriers to opening doors for others, building stronger institutions and creating pathways for the next generation of leaders.
She expressed optimism that greater progress could be achieved when women lead with purpose, integrity and a shared commitment to societal development.
