Enyimba International FC emerged champions of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on sunday after winning the Super-Six playoffs with a 1-1 draw against defending Rivers United FC, making them the nineth time winner of the league.
Ekene Awazie put the two times African champions ahead in the 39th minute before Nyima Nwagua leveled the scoreline three minutes after the restart of the second half.
The 1-1 score draw means Enyimba International are 2023 NPFL champions and won the cash prize of One Hundred Million naira (N100m) and also picked the CAF Champions League ticket.

The 2021/22 Nigeria n champions, Rivers United despite having the same points (9) with Enyimba dropped to third on the log to represent Nigeria at the CAF Confederation Cup next season. Surprisingly, Remo Stars finished second on the log with 9 points but with better goal difference than Rivers United and will fly Nigerian flag at the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.

Bendel Insurance dropped to fifth on the log and will be looking forward to picking continental ticket when they file out against Rangers International in the final of the 2023 Federation Cup where the winners pick the second CAF Confederation Cup ticket.
