Erik ten Hag Sacked by Leverkusen After Just 3 Matches

Bayer Leverkusen have dismissed manager Erik ten Hag after only three matches in charge, ending the former Manchester United boss’s brief tenure at the German club.

Ten Hag was appointed on July 1 to succeed Xabi Alonso and signed a contract through 2027. His reign ended prematurely amid a shaky season start: a win in the DFB-Pokal was followed by a 2–1 defeat to Hoffenheim and a dramatic 3–3 draw with Werder Bremen, in which Leverkusen relinquished a 3–1 lead despite playing against 10 men.

Reports suggest the decision was taken internally on Sunday, with the coach officially informed on Monday. Co-trainer Rogier Meijer is expected to step in as interim manager.

The abrupt termination reflects growing impatience and internal discord following Leverkusen’s faltering start to the Bundesliga campaign.
