Ex-Convict Arrested For Stealing Mosque’s Sound System In Osun

A 30-year-old ex-convict, Tajudeen Ridwan, has been apprehended after allegedly stealing a sound system and electrical appliances from a mosque in Osun State’s capital, Osogbo.

Ridwan was reportedly caught at Isale-Osun by worshippers of the mosque as he attempted to flee with an electronic engine for the mosque’s sound system used to call worshippers to prayers.

“The worshippers quickly alerted the Osogbo Command of Amotekun Corps to the theft. Their operatives responded promptly, arriving at the scene to arrest the culprit on the spot,” a resident said.

Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi (Rtd.), Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, confirmed the incident.

He revealed that Ridwan was arrested on Tuesday and confessed to being an ex-convict who had completed a four-year jail term in March for a similar offense.

According to him, “He (Ridwan) was caught after morning prayer. He thought that all the worshippers had left the mosque, but luck ran against him when some worshippers saw him parking the Electronic Musical Engine inside a sack bag and the attention of Amotekun Osogbo Command was called to the act and the operatives swung into action immediately and apprehended the felon on the spot.”

The Amotekun Corps has since handed over the suspect to the police for further interrogation and prosecution.
