Ezeajughi Asks Sickle Cell Patients To Utilize Free Health Services

The Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi has commended the achievements and perseverance of persons living with sickle cell disorder in the state and charged them to take advantage of the state government’s subsidized health service provision to get the best medicare.

Ezeajuhi said that the scheme is to ensure that sickle cell patients get adequate care in order to contribute their quota to the state’s development.

According to Ezeajuhi, the commemoration of World Sickle Cell Day is an opportunity to celebrate the amazing achievements of those living with the disease.

The Chief of Staff revealed that sickle cell disorder is a global health problem affecting millions of people around the world and it is estimated that approximately 150,000 children are born with sickle cell disease in Nigeria every year, while about 40 million Nigerians are healthy carriers of the sickle cell gene.

He pointed out that the Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo’s campaign is to create awareness by letting people know that sickle cell disease is not a death sentence and that it is possible to live free of the symptoms of the disease, and in many cases, even recover from its complications if they are equipped with the right knowledge and tools.

He urged those who are living with the disease to take advantage of Mrs Nonye Soludo’s healthy living tips and see how they can change certain health habits that can complicate their conditions.
