Federal Secretariat Complex Commissioned In Awka

President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned Federal Secretariat Complex Awka, Anambra State on Tuesday, May 23, 2023

ANN reports that the secretariat was named after the first Nigerian female Engineer and Head of Service, Engineer Ebele Ofunneamaka Okeke.

In his remarks, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige who commissioned the secretariat complex on behalf of President Buhari described the edifice as a legacy project and a confirmation of the federal government’s commitment to renew, upgrade and expand development infrastructure across the country which will also reduce cost of governance and improve service delivery, even as the administration comes to an end in a few days’ time.

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, who thanked President Buhari for the support to render services to Nigerians, said the projects would help in achieving sustainable development.

The contractor who handled the Anambra secretariat complex, Chief Cosmas Agagbo, said quality was the watchword in executing the project, and called for maintenance as at when due.

Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, who represented Governor Chukwuma Soludo said the Secretariat will help the relationship between Anambra and the federal government and that the state will save a lot of money.

“Every year, we spend close to 52 million naira in supporting different federal agencies. We are pleased that this has been completed”, Chukwulobelu revealed.

Former Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Prince Chukwudi Orizu, represented Engineer Ebele Ofunneamaka Okeke at the event.

ANN gathered that the new secretariat complex has such facilities as 498 office spaces, exhibition hall, banking hall, post office, reception, conference hall, four committee rooms, and 300 parking spaces.

It also has lift facilities, standby power generating set, solar power supply, well layout parking spaces and drainages, staff canteen, solar lights, fire hydrant, among others.
