FG Distributes Nearly ₦2 Trillion in Dec. 2025 Revenue to States, Local Govts

Federal, state and local governments divided nearly N1.97 trillion in revenue for December 2025, a haul driven by a sharp rise in value-added tax collections but tempered by declines in oil-related earnings, according to figures released by the Federation Account Allocation Committee.

The total distributable sum of N1.969 trillion marked a distribution from statutory revenue of N1.084 trillion, VAT inflows of N846.507 billion and electronic money transfer levies of N38.110 billion, after deductions for collection costs and other outflows.

The federal government claimed the largest slice at N653.500 billion, while states received N706.469 billion—including N96.083 billion in mineral derivation funds—and local councils took N513.272 billion.

Compared to November 2025, gross statutory revenue dipped by N105.202 billion to N1.631 trillion, but VAT jumped by N350.915 billion to N913.957 billion, the FAAC communiqué noted.

“On the N1.084 trillion distributable statutory revenue, the Federal Government received N520.807 billion and the state governments received N264.160 billion. The LGs received N203.656 billion, while the sum of N96.083 billion, representing 13 per cent of mineral revenue, was shared to the benefiting states as derivation revenue,” the communiqué stated.

“From the N846.507 billion distributable VAT revenue, the Federal Government received N126.976 billion, the state governments received N423.254 billion and the LGs received N296.277 billion,” it added.

The report highlighted gains in companies income tax, import duties and VAT, with marginal upticks in oil royalties and certain levies, offset by drops in excise duties, petroleum profit tax and electronic transfers.

“It added that in December 2025, Companies Income Tax, Import Duty and VAT increased significantly. It said Oil and Gas Royalty, CET levies and fees increased marginally, while Excise Duty, Petroleum Profit Tax and EMTL recorded considerable decreases,” the communiqué said.
