the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, Kylian Mbappe of PSG, as well as the likes Sadio Mane have been nominated for the 2022 Best FIFA Men’s Player Award.
The world football governing body announced the finalists for the prize in a statement on its website on Thursday.
The honour honours a football player’s accomplishments throughout the entire year.
The 14 players who were considered for the award also included Mohamed Salah, Karim Benzema, and Neymar.
Julian Alvarez, Jude Bellingham, Kevin de Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski, Luka Modric, and Vinicius Junior are further players on the list.
Cristiano Ronaldo failed to make the cut due to his lacklustre performances for Portugal and Manchester United.
Ahead of Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, Didier Deschamps, and Walid Regragui in the coach category is Lionel Scaloni.
The Best FIFA Football Awards event is scheduled for later in the year. The public voting period will start on January 12 and end on February 3.
