Finima community Youths shut down oil service companies in Rivers state

Youths from Finima community in Bonny local government area of Rivers State, took decisive action against perceived neglect and marginalization by shutting down two major oil service companies, Saipem Construction Nigeria Limited and Daewoo Engineering and Construction Limited.

The companies are key contractors in the ongoing Train Seven Project of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG).

Defying hours of heavy rain, the determined youths barricaded the gates of the companies, effectively preventing the entry and exit of staff.

The protesters are demanding the implementation of the Local Content Development Act of 2017, which mandates the inclusion of host communities in significant projects.

They argue that their community has been sidelined in the Train Seven Project, a major undertaking expected to boost the nation’s gas production and economic growth.

As of now, there has been no official response from Saipem Construction Nigeria Limited, Daewoo Engineering and Construction Limited, or NLNG regarding the protest.
