Fire Guts Nine Classrooms In Kwara State

A fire incident at Grace International School on Awolowo Street beside Kobiowu Mosque in Tanke, Ilį»rin South Local Government Area of Kwara State has destroyed nine classrooms.

The incident, it was gathered, occurred around past 6:00 pm on Sunday and destroyed a substantial part of the 14-room facility.

The spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.

According to him, upon arrival at the scene, the firemen met a block of classrooms engulfed in flames.

ā€œTragically, the fire had already ravaged nine out of the 14 classrooms, leaving a significant portion of the school in ruins,ā€ he added.

He attributed the cause of the inferno to ā€œan undergrowth fire that was deliberately set ablaze by an unidentified individual.ā€

ā€œThe flames then rapidly spread to the school building, causing extensive damage,ā€ Adekunle added.

He said the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa urged the public to prioritise safety and be more careful in their day-to-day activities.
