An early morning fire yesterday razed about a dozen of shops at Kagini community in an Abuja suburb.
Kagini, a community off Kubwa/Deidei expressway, is under Abuja Municipal Area Council in the FCT.
Musa Kabiru is the landlord of the affected 12 shops, where various businesses were run.
He said all goods in the affected shops were destroyed by the fire, except one from which a plasma television was salvaged.
He said he was alerted to the incident around 1am, almost immediately after the fire started, as some residents were shouting fire, fire.
“Initially, we taught we could control the situation but we later alerted the fire fighters but it took them long before they arrived,’’ Kabiru added.
He said the fire was brought under control around 4am.
A shop owner, Adamu Danjuma, who linked the incident to power surge, lamented that he lost everything in his provision shop.
