….Begins Familiarisation Tour Of Units

The Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Suleiman Ibrahim, has embarked on a familiarisation tour of units under the command following his appointment in November 2025, with the aim of assessing operational readiness and interacting directly with officers and ratings.

The Flag Officer Commanding was received on arrival by the Commanding Officer of Naval Outpost Onitsha, Commander Kabir Yusuf, alongside other senior officers, who conducted him around key facilities and briefed him on the activities and operational responsibilities of the outpost.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Ibrahim while speaking during his visit to the Naval Outpost, Onitsha, said the tour was designed to engage personnel firsthand, understand their working conditions, and identify challenges affecting effective service delivery.

Ibrahim noted that the visit also provided him with the opportunity to convey the felicitations and goodwill message of the Chief of Naval Staff to officers and men of the command.

“I have come, and I have seen; where there are shortcomings, we will provide solutions to enable our personnel to serve better and ensure that the mandates of the Nigerian Navy are effectively met.”

As part of the visit, Rear Admiral Ibrahim performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Officer of the Day and Duty Chief’s Cabin, a critical operational facility that will house the duty office, chiefs, and duty watch personnel responsible for the day-to-day administration and security of the base.
