Gani Adams Warns of Imminent Terror Onslaught in Southwest Nigeria

Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, issued a dire alert on Friday over the infiltration of terrorist networks into Nigeria’s Southwest region, claiming armed groups are poised to unleash coordinated attacks on Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo and Lagos states after using neighbouring Kogi and Kwara as testing grounds, according to SR.

Adams, a prominent Yoruba activist and security chief, made the revelation during a Central TV interview at his Lagos residence, citing intelligence from “a very serious authority” that points to a sophisticated plot involving bandits, Fulani herdsmen and splinter cells from Boko Haram, ISWAP and ISIS.

“We got information from a very serious authority that we have been highly infiltrated in the South-West by these terrorists in most of the communities in Yorubaland,” Adams said. “Kogi and Kwara are like buffer zones to the South-West, and what they are doing there is just to test the ground to start the major attacks.”

He specified the targets, adding: “The information at our disposal is that they want to attack Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo and Lagos State.”

The security supremo alleged foreign orchestration behind the threat, declaring: “I can tell you authoritatively that this thing is being coordinated by some foreigners. It goes beyond Nigerians.”

Adams linked the plot to broader national instability, describing the groups as “the same people you see attacking people every day… in some cases you call them bandits, in some cases Fulani herdsmen.” He warned that each faction pursues “political, economic and ethnic” agendas, with “different pockets that broke away from” major terror outfits.

The Yoruba leader also decried denial of religious persecution in the Middle Belt, reacting to Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia’s dismissal: “I was shocked… Even we that are not living in the Middle Belt are seriously concerned about the incidents happening in Benue and Plateau states. On a daily basis, we get information of attacks in different communities.”

“I don’t know how this man wants to classify genocide,” Adams charged. “When a race is attacking another race, trying to wipe them out of a system or community, or state there is no way you wouldn’t classify it as genocide.”
