A political support group, Geeks & Founders For Soludo (GEFAS), has appeal to the State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), to support governor Chukwuma Soludo’s reelection bid through massive publication of his historical achievements.
Speaking on the upcoming November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, the convener of GEFAS, Mr Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, made the appeal on behalf of the group while addressing members of NUJ at the state secretariat in Awka, during the Union’s October 2025 Congress.
Agbata who is also the Managing Director of Anambra State ICT Agency, said what governor Soludo has done within three and half years in office is enough evidence for the Union to wholeheartedly give full support to the governor to enable him actualized his vision of making Anambra a digitalized, clean, green livable and prosperous state in Nigeria.
He enumerated some of the achievements recorded under his agency as RoW which gave rise to Fibre-to-home deployment, 5G infrastructure expansion, Faster and more reliable internet across communities, as well as created an enabling environment where innovators, telecom operators, and entrepreneurs can thrive.
“One of the clearest testaments to this policy is the Solution WiFi Initiative: a people-centred project directly rooted in Governor Soludo’s People’s Manifesto, which pledged to “Provide cheap (and ultimately free) Wi-Fi hotspots in public places.
” That promise is now a reality, with 25 live Solution WiFi sites across the state, including schools, lodges, public spaces, and government institutions,” Agbata added.
According to him, “Soludo led-All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA government is about creating a smart, liveable, and prosperous megacity, one that equips its youth, empowers its workers, strengthens its institutions, and ensures that no one is left behind in Anambra State.
“Governor Soludo is do very well for Ndi-Anambra, please keep supporting him, because Anambra is rising.
“The role of the media in shaping narratives, holding leaders accountable, and amplifying the voices of our people cannot be overstated.
“That is why I welcome this opportunity to also share the story of the Anambra State ICT Agency, our mandate, our journey, and our achievements so far under the visionary leadership of our Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaking on the Mandate of the Agency, Agbata said “The Anambra State ICT Agency was established with a clear and compelling mandate: to drive digital transformation in Anambra State.
“At its core, our role is incubatory: to design, coordinate, and implement technology initiatives that make governance more efficient, inclusive, transparent, and people-centred.
“We exist to ensure that “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere” is not just a slogan but a lived reality where government processes are digitized, citizens can access services seamlessly, and technology becomes the true backbone of governance.
“Our Mission is to support the delivery of everything technology and technology everywhere in the state.
“Our Core Values are innovation, collaboration, data-driven decision making, solution-focused execution, and community orientation.
“And you will see these values reflected in all we have achieved under Governor Soludo’s leadership.
The RoW Waiver: The Hidden Backbone is one of the most foundational, yet understated, decisions in this digital journey was made in 2022, the waiver of the Right of Way (RoW) charges for broadband infrastructure by Mr.Governor.
“At first glance, it seemed like a mere policy decision. But in reality, it was the bedrock of Anambra’s digital revolution. By removing the barriers that had long stifled broadband expansion, Governor Soludo sent a powerful message: Anambra is open for digital business.
This singular decision unlocked opportunities for; Fibre-to-home deployment,5G infrastructure expansion, Faster and more reliable internet across communities.
“It also created an enabling environment where innovators, telecom operators, and entrepreneurs can thrive. Simply put, it unlocked what had been locked.

The current Solution WiFi locations include: Aroma Junction, Ada Jesus Lodge, Living Spring Lodgea, Eke Awka, Address Lodge,Novena Lodge, ABS Bus Stand, Bucon Lodge, Royal Villa Lodge,, First Choice Lodge, Rubez Lodge, Ukwu Orji, Holy Family, Solution Arena, School Gate Ifite, Book Foundation, UNIZIK Junction (Temp Site), Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, College of Health, Obosi, Umuogbu, Umubele, Umuenechi, Ukwuoji and Jerome Udorji Secretariat respectively.
“Today, the results are visible, not theoretical.”
Agbata used the congress to announce the Agency’s plan to empowered members of NUJ in the state with computer laptops and other media gadgets.
Earlier speaking, the Chairman, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Comrade Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu commended the Anambra ICT boss for finding out time to interact with journalists and sought a more robust collaboration for training and empowerment of members in AI journalism.
