Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji has condemned a controversial social media post advising Igbo men to avoid marrying Igbo women, calling the message irresponsible and a refusal to embrace self-accountability.
The post, shared by an X user identified as Onyeka, urged Igbo men to “look outside for wife,” claiming that women from East Africa, “especially Rwanda,” were better options. The writer further alleged that Igbo women were more likely to “falsely accuse” their husbands of serious crimes, sparking outrage online.
“This is what am talking about!” the user wrote, before encouraging men to seek relationships with women “all over social media.”
Reacting sharply, Nnaji rejected the message and accused the poster of deflecting personal responsibility.
“In order words, instead of checking yourself and taking accountability, go for the unsuspecting and carry on with your evil. Got it,” she wrote in a brief but pointed statement.
