Governor Chukwuma Soludo has officially emerged as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State. Soludo, who was the sole aspirant in the party’s primary, was unanimously endorsed by delegates during the primary election held on Saturday at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Uche Nwegbo, stated: “Total delegates for this election were 3,260, with 3,175 accredited. A total of 3,172 votes were cast, with four invalid votes. Governor Soludo received 3,168 ‘Yes’ votes and zero ‘No’ votes. By the powers conferred on me, I hereby declare Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as APGA’s candidate.”

In his acceptance speech, Soludo expressed gratitude for the massive support and reaffirmed his commitment to the continued development of Anambra State. “Anambra is APGA, and APGA is Anambra. I am humbled by this historic display of solidarity. I accept this nomination wholeheartedly,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, popularly known as Ikukuoma, has emerged as the party’s flag bearer for the same governorship election. In a fiercely contested primary held earlier today, Ikukuoma secured 1,455 votes to clinch the ticket, defeating three other aspirants.

His closest rival, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, polled 67 votes, followed by Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo with 26 votes, and Edozie Mmadu who garnered 8 votes. A total of 26 votes were declared invalid.

With both major parties now presenting their candidates, the race for Anambra’s top seat intensifies ahead of the November 8 polls.
