Gov Yahaya Bello’s Convoy Attacked By Gunmen, Scores Injured

In a shocking turn of events, the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, was viciously attacked by yet-to-be-identified thugs. The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 12:30 pm when Governor Bello was returning to Lokoja, the state capital, from his trip to Abuja.

According to reliable sources, the assailants laid in wait for the governor’s convoy just a few kilometers from the Naval base, where chaos erupted. As a result, several individuals in the governor’s convoy sustained varying degrees of injuries. Security operatives, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services (DSS), swiftly arrived at the scene to secure the area.

Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, released a statement on Saturday. Fanwo alleged that the attackers were loyal to Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, the former Deputy Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC). Ajaka is currently the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the upcoming November 11th governorship election in Kogi State.

The motive behind this assault on Governor Bello’s convoy remains unclear at this time. However, investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and ascertain their intentions. Governor Bello has been known for his efforts to maintain peace and security in Kogi State, and this incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by political figures in carrying out their duties.
