Grammy: ‘I Didn’t Realize it Was Real Life’ – Burna Boy Breaks Silence After Loosing 4 Nominations

Social media users are circulating a video capturing Nigerian singer Burna Boy’s reaction following his loss in four Grammy nominations during the 66th Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California on Friday, February 4th.

Burna Boy, alongside other Nigerian artists like Davido, Tems, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Olamide, received nominations but did not secure any awards. Burna Boy’s nominations included Best Melodic Rap for “Sitting On Top of the World,” “City Boys” for Best African Music Performance, “Alone” for Best Global Music Performance, and “I Told Them” for Best Global Music Album.

Despite previously winning a Grammy for Best Global Music Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards, Burna Boy expressed shock and disbelief in the viral video over his recent lack of wins. This highlights that despite receiving twelve nominations in total, he has only secured one Grammy Award.

In the widely shared video, Burna Boy described his disbelief, stating, “It feels like a dream to me, I didn’t realize it was real life anymore, even though I perform at the Grammy Awards.”
