Group Backs Re-election Of Onitsha South Mayor ‘Orji’, Donates 6 Million Naira

The Onitsha South Stakeholders Forum has presented a cheque for six million naira to the Mayor of the Council, Honourable Emeka Orji, for the purchase of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for the 2026 Anambra State Local Government elections.

Presenting the cheque, the Chairman of the Forum, Chief Livinus Ezenkwu, said the gesture followed their earlier endorsement of the Mayor for a second tenure because of his outstanding and dynamic administration, which has transformed the entire area and uplifted the lives of the people, including entrenching an efficient and effective sanitation culture.

Also speaking, a member of the forum and former Anambra State Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Emeka Udodeme, said the re-election of Honourable Orji would enable him to consolidate on his remarkable and multidimensional achievements that will reposition the area for sustainable development.

Udodeme recalled that within a short time in office he recovered many stolen council lands and properties, which provided the needed space for development projects, including the construction of the first fire service station in the area, while his interventions on council roads have expanded and increased the volume of socio-economic activities.

Responding, the Mayor, Hon. Orji, assured the forum that he would justify the confidence reposed in his administration

The local government boss disclosed that, in addition to building a fire service station, he has acquired a fire truck, recovered over fourteen plots of land from land grabbers.

Orji noted that works have commenced work on the Creek Road Bypass connecting Bida Road and Modebe Avenue with the aim of linking the entire area, assuring that if re-elected he will sustain mass infrastructural development, effective sanitation and beautification programmes, and plans to plant two thousand trees in the first quarter.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the event attracted key stakeholders of the council and Presidents General of the four communities, including Mr. Okwudili Obinwanne of Fegge Community, Mr. Ifeanyi Onwuegbuchinam of Woliwo Community, Mr. Okechukwu Ojiudu of Odakpu Community, and Mr. Obiora Egbuna of Housing Estate Community.
