Group Holds Free Breast Cancer Screening, Awareness Campaign In Anambra

The breast cancer screening and awareness campaign was tagged “Self Examination: Saving Lives Through Education and Early Detection”
The events were sponsored by Access Bank.

The programme where over 200 women selected from the nine villages in the community were screened was built into Oba Patriotic Union women wing home and abroad August meeting held at Oba Civic center.

Before the screening exercise commenced, a team of doctors from the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Anambra State Branch led by their President, Dr Amaka Onubuogu explained that there is no definite cause of breast cancer though some risk factors include genetic, much intake of alcohol, short period of breast feeding, lack of exercise, over weight and hormone replacement therapy.

Dr Onubuoogu, however, said that breast cancer can still occur in the absence of these factors and urged the women to check their breast regularly for early detection and prevention.

Speaking, the president of Adaeze Club, Dr Mrs Ngozi Nwosu represented by her vice, Mrs Amaka Onwualu explained that Adaeze Club is made up of some daughters of Oba and those married to Oba men with the objective of giving back to the society and contributing to the development, progress and well-being of Oba people.

Contributing, Two members of Adaeze medical team, Lady Gozie Ochuba and Mrs Ify Uzochukwu urged the women to adhere to the teachings given to them and not to hide any abnormally they noticed on their body for early treatment.
