Herbalist stabs creditor to death in Ibadan

Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu on Friday ordered the remand of a herb seller, Idowu Mutiu, at Agodi Correctional facility for allegedly killing his creditor in Ibadan.

Mr Mutiu, 40, also known as OSHA, had taken a loan from 73-year-old Olusegun Olayiwola, using his Lexus SUV as a collateral, prosecution counsel Oluwafemi Oluwadare told the court.

Mr Oluwadare said Mr Mutiu later killed his creditor with a knife on June 17, at about 9:30 a.m.

He said the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 316 and punishable under section 319 of the  Criminal Code Laws of 2000.

The chief magistrate, who did not take the plea of Mr Mutiu, for want of jurisdiction, ordered that he should be remanded at Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan.

He said the remand is pending legal advice from the office of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The chief magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the matter until October 13, for mention.
