Hilda Baci Attempts Guinness Record With Giant Jollof Pot in Lagos

Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has launched an ambitious bid to break the Guinness World Record by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice at Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos. Tens of thousands of Nigerians are expected to attend as she aims to turn the event into a cultural spectacle.

The pot, reportedly weighing over 1,400 kilograms and capable of holding 22,619 litres of rice, is set to include 250 bags of rice. Spectators arrived early, vendors prepared large-scale setups, and security and hygiene protocols were described as priorities by organizers.

Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre blessed the event on set-up day, and organizers assured attendees that they expect both a celebratory atmosphere and strict compliance with health and safety measures.

The attempt recalls Hilda Baci’s earlier cook-a-thon in May 2023, where she broke a record cooking continuously for over 90 hours. This new attempt shifts focus from duration to quantity, aiming for sheer scale.
