Hold Me Responsible for The Success Or Failure of UNIZIK in the Next Five Years: Prof. Benard Odoh

The Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Prof. Benard Ifeanyi Odoh has charged members of the university community to brace up for work to rebuild UNIZIK as the days of politics are over.

Speaking at the Holy Mass to mark his first day in office held at St. Joseph Catholic Chaplaincy, UNIZIK Permanent Site, Awka, Prof. Odoh stated that the success or failure of UNIZIK from 2024 to 2029 is now his responsibility, hence, his readiness to do all in his powers to restore the glory of UNIZIK.

While sharing the document of his social contract tagged: “Disruptive Model” with the UNIZIK community, the Vice-Chancellor assured that he will engage the best hands to rebuild the infrastructural decay in UNIZIK, and promised to rebuild the failed fence of the institution in three months.

“Let our students in Architecture design the University fence to be built and the best will win the Vice-Chancellor’s award”.

“I will live on campus with the students, so I can know and feel what they are feeling”, the VC stressed.

Continuing, Prof. Odoh maintained that in humility, his administration will entrench discipline and strict compliance to rules.

Earlier in the homily, the Secretary to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Very Rev. Fr. Evaristus Ifeanacho charged the faithful to see themselves as servants called to serve in humility, adding that without God, man is nothing.

“To serve is arduous and tasking, hence the reason we call on God to assist us”, Rev. Fr. Ifeanocho observed.

He called on the stakeholders in the university to maintain the institution of splendour on campus where the legacy should be that of rewarding excellence, maintenance of a healthy mental environment and called on God to endow the new UNIZIK VC with the wisdom to move the university to a greater height.

In a vote of thanks, a former University Orator, Prof. Ken Nworgu urged all to support the new VC to move the university forward.

High point of the Holy Mass was thanksgiving by the VC with his family and friends.
