Homecoming: U.I. Muslim Graduates to Honor Shettima, Zulum, Others On Sunday

The University Ibadan Muslim Graduates’ Association (UIMGA) will be holding a homecoming programme for its members on Sunday during which some distinguished members will be honoured.

Some of those to be honoured are the nation’s vice president, Kashim Shettima; Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum; and the deputy governors of Oyo and Lagos states, Bayo Lawal and Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

Other honorees are Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ilorin, Professor Musturah Oyebisi Azeez; Professor Hameed Adetunji of Umul Qurah University, Saudi Arabia; Senators Sharafadeen Alli, Yunus Akintunde and Lere Oyewumi and notable professors.

A statement by the association’s National Secretary, Babatunde Lawal, said the programme, which will be held at the University of Ibadan Mosque Hall at 10:00 a.m., will be presided over by the Managing Director, First Bank Nigeria, Dr Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, with the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola Oluyalo Otileta VII and the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Ikorodu, Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali Emugoriade I, as royal fathers.

The guest speaker, Mutalubi Adebayo Ojo, SAN, will discuss the topic ‘Religions, Worships, Political Participation and Governance: Service to Humanity or to both Humanity and God?’

According to the statement, the programme coincides with the 75th anniversary of the University of Ibadan, thus the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, is the chief host.
