The Chief Whip of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Sir Pete Ibida has advised Ndi Anambra to be patient with and give their maximum support to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
Hon. Ibida made the call as more and more people are getting disenchanted and disillusioned with the Soludo’s APGA led administration’s they blamed for falling to deliver the economic windfall the Governor promised during his election campaigns.
Angels Network News had reported that the Governor has been harshly criticized in recent weeks by Ndi Anambra for what many consider his failures in many fronts, including the hike taxes for keke and commercial bus drivers, demolition of properties in many parts of the State, total collapse of the state’s waste disposal system, the high rate of insecurity in state and above all, the Governor’s inability to invest massively in the state’s economy which was primarily the reason he was elected.
However, addressing newsmen recently in Awka, the State capital, Hon Ibida called on Ndi Anambra to exercise some patience with Soludo assuring them that in no distance time, the Governor would rollout his massive economic plan for the state.
The Nimo born lawmaker, stated that developing Anambra State was not going to be as easy as many people thought. This was because Anambra was among the few, if not the only state in Nigeria with multiple cities:
“While many states in Nigeria have just one city were their governors focus attention to develop thereby reducing the burden of governance for them, Anambra State has not just two but many cities including, Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi , Ekwulobia and others. Developing these cities simultaneously is not easy. Any administration that is serious with development has to sit down and work out a roadmap for development in Anambra which will ensure that none of the cities is left behind and that is what the administration of Charles Chukwuma Soludo is doing.”
Acknowledging how difficult it was to develop Anambra State due to the multiple cities it has, Hon Ibida doffed his cap for all the administrations that have ruled Anambra these past 31 years insisting that each administration contributed its quarters in ensuring that each of these cities received its share of development.
On this basis the Nimo born lawmaker maintained that the present administration led by the erudite scholar, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo would shock Ndi Anambra with waves of developments that would soon inundate the state. He noted that Anambra State was currently going through a moment of interregnum developmentally because the Governor was studying things before marshalling out the wonderful packages he has for the state:
“Looking at what the previous administrations have achieved in Anambra State in the past 31 years, I can assure you that the present administration is even going to do more because the Soludo’s Government is passionate about developing Anambra State and transforming the state into the Dubai of Africa. This has always been Soludo’s dream and I am sure he is not going to fail on it.”
