HYPPADEC Pledges More Interventions In Communities

The Managing Director of the Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, said the agency would continue to intervene on challenges bedevilling inhabitants of the catchment areas.

The MD disclosed this on Friday when leaders of some communities and youths, trained under the intervention programmes of the commission, paid a solidarity visit to the commission in Lokoja.

The MD, who was represented by the state coordinator of the commission, Mrs Juan Ogwuche, said the agency would continue to focus on human development and the establishment of infrastructure to cushion the effect of dams induced challenges in their communities.

Yelwa added that the just-ended training programme for the youths on poultry, fishing, tailoring, and computer knowledge, among others is to reduce unemployment and make the beneficiaries self-reliant, and employers of labour.

The state coordinator of the commission assured the youths that she will follow up on their request for starter packs at the headquarters of the commission in Minna, assuring them of a quick response to their demand.
