Following the public announcement of his resignation from the Labour Party (LP) on April 6, 2025, prominent political figure Oseloka H. Obaze has addressed growing public interest and media inquiries surrounding his decision.
In a statement issued today, Obaze expressed gratitude to well-wishers who reached out with concern and support. He reaffirmed that his reasons for leaving the Labour Party were clearly outlined in his resignation letter and required no further explanation.
While acknowledging the internal contradictions within the LP, Obaze emphasized that the ongoing crisis in the party is largely “externally and politically engineered,” making any amicable or judicial resolution unfeasible.
Addressing his current political stance, Obaze clarified that he is not affiliated with any political party at the moment. However, he declared himself “100% Obidient,” reiterating unwavering support for Peter Obi and his vision for a “New Nigeria that is Possible.”
Obaze also reaffirmed his commitment to democracy and nation-building, while delivering a strong critique of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating unequivocally that “the APC government has failed Nigeria and Nigerians.”
The statement is seen as a significant reaffirmation of the “Obidient” movement’s influence beyond formal party lines, as Nigeria continues to navigate a complex political landscape ahead of future elections.
